Question 1

Where can I get my console or controller repaired near me?

Accepted Answer

You can drop off directly at our workshop, or use our door-to-door courier service from anywhere across South Africa via The Courier Guy, PostNet, or Paxi.

Question 2

Can you fix Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles with a black screen or no signal?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Black screen issues on Xbox Series X, Series S, and Xbox One are often caused by a damaged HDMI port or a blown display retimer chip (like the NB7N on Series X/S or 75DP159 on Xbox One). We replace damaged ports and chips so your Xbox displays crisp video on your TV again.

Question 3

How does a PS5 cleaning service work and how long does it take?

Accepted Answer

Our complete PS5 deep clean and liquid metal service restores optimal cooling and silent operation. We open the console, clear out all dust from the heatsink and fan, clean and polish off oxidized dry spots, and evenly respread fresh liquid metal cooling alloy. Turnaround is usually Same Day or 24 hours.

Question 4

How do you fix stick drift on PS5 and Xbox controllers permanently?

Accepted Answer

Standard controller sticks use carbon tracks that scrape and wear down after a few months. We can install permanent Hall Effect magnetic sticks that use contactless magnetic sensors. Because there are no rubbing parts to wear out, they will never develop stick drift. Every Hall Effect upgrade comes with our 12-month stick drift warranty.

Question 5

How long does a console or controller repair take?

Accepted Answer

Most repairs take 1 to 5 business days, depending on the issue and whether parts are needed. Common jobs like controller stick drift repairs and console cleaning are often finished within 24 to 48 hours. We keep you updated on WhatsApp every step of the way.

Question 6

What is covered and what is NOT covered under your warranty?

Accepted Answer

Every completed repair comes with our 3 to 6 month warranty covering the parts we replaced and the work we did. The warranty does not cover new physical drops, liquid spills, power surges or lightning strikes, or someone else opening up the console after us.

Question 7

Do you offer courier collection and delivery across South Africa?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You can drop off in person at our workshop, or send your device from anywhere in South Africa using The Courier Guy, PostNet, or Paxi (PEP Stores). Send us a quick WhatsApp message and we will send you simple packing tips and instructions.

Question 8

How will I know when my repair is ready?

Accepted Answer

As soon as your repair is tested and ready, we send you a message on WhatsApp or call you with photos or a video showing your console or controller working properly, ready for collection or return delivery.

Question 9

Why choose CCRS Electronics?

Accepted Answer

We have been repairing PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo hardware for over 10 years with a 4.9-star rating on Google. We have the proper tools, use quality parts, give honest advice, and never charge surprise fees.

Question 10

Are consoles and controllers tested before you return them?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely. We test every device thoroughly before giving it back — including testing the display on a TV, checking game discs, running games to test temperatures, and checking controller sticks to make sure everything works 100%.

Question 11

What is the advantage of Hall Effect sticks over regular controller sticks?

Accepted Answer

Regular controller sticks have small metal parts rubbing against carbon tracks, which wear down and cause stick drift. Hall Effect sticks use magnets instead of rubbing parts — so they never wear down and will never get stick drift.

Question 12

Do you check my console if I don't know what's broken?

Accepted Answer

Yes! If your console won't turn on or show a picture and you're not sure why, we inspect and test it to find the problem. If you go ahead with the repair, the assessment fee is credited toward your total bill.

Question 13

How do PS4 HDMI port repairs work and how are they quoted?

Accepted Answer

A PlayStation 4 HDMI port replacement at CCRS Electronics is thoroughly tested and quoted with no hidden surprises. This covers microscopic desoldering of the damaged port, inspecting and reinforcing the motherboard pads, soldering a brand-new high-grade OEM HDMI port, full display output testing, and an internal dust cleanout.

Question 14

What gaming repair services does CCRS Electronics provide?

Accepted Answer

CCRS Electronics offers complete gaming repairs: PlayStation 5, PS4, PS3, and PS2 repairs; Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 repairs; Nintendo Switch repairs; controller repairs (PS5 DualSense, Xbox Wireless, Nintendo Joy-Cons); permanent Hall Effect stick drift upgrades; HDMI 2.1 and HDMI encoder chip repairs (e.g. NB7N, MN864729); power supply and motherboard micro-soldering; liquid metal and deep thermal cleaning; and refurbished console sales.

Question 15

Can I courier my console from Cape Town, Boksburg, or anywhere across South Africa?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We serve gamers nationwide. Customers from Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, and across South Africa regularly send their consoles and controllers via The Courier Guy, PostNet-to-PostNet, or Paxi (PEP Stores). Return courier is arranged safely with full tracking.

Question 16

Where can I fix my PS5 controller or Xbox controller near me?

Accepted Answer

You can drop your drifting or broken controller off at our workshop, or courier it to us from anywhere in South Africa. We fix stick drift (with permanent contactless magnetic Hall Effect sensors), unresponsive face buttons, broken LB/RB shoulder bumpers, mushy triggers, loose USB-C charging ports, and faulty batteries with a fast 24–48 hour turnaround.

Question 17

Do you still repair older retro consoles like Xbox 360, PS3, and PS2?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We repair older generations including Xbox 360 (Red Ring of Death / RROD diagnosis, stuck disc drive trays, laser replacements, power brick checks), PlayStation 3 (Yellow Light of Death / YLOD, overheating, HDMI faults, disc drive issues), and PlayStation 2.

Question 18

How does CCRS Electronics compare to the official Sony repair centre or other console repair shops?

Accepted Answer

Official centres frequently classify HDMI port damage or liquid metal oxidation as "unrepairable user damage" and quote high replacement unit fees. CCRS Electronics is an independent specialist with a 4.9-star Google rating. We perform component-level board repairs and micro-soldering to fix your actual unit affordably, backed by a 3 to 6-month warranty.
